The status of nutrient reduction strategies in states along the Upper Mississippi River will be the focus of the spring 2026 seminar series hosted by the Iowa Nutrient Research Center. The sessions feature scientists who have been leaders in developing, updating and tracking the progress of nutrient reduction strategies in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Indiana.  

The presentations will take place the second Wednesday of each month, February through May, from 3:10-4:00 p.m. All sessions in this seminar series will be held online.

Indiana's State Nutrient Reduction Strategy: Programs, Practices and Priorities

Presenter: Julie Harrold, program manager for CREP and water quality initiatives at Indiana State Department of Agriculture and Division of Soil Conservation 

Julie Harrold is the program manager for the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) and Water Quality Initiatives for the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA), Division of Soil Conservation (DSC). In this role, she provides leadership and management for the Indiana CREP, the Indiana State Nutrient Reduction Strategy, and other water quality initiatives undertaken by the ISDA and provides Indiana representation on the Gulf of America Hypoxia Task Force Coordinating Committee. Julie is a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Landscape Horticulture and Design and has over 27 years of experience as a conservation professional.  She has held a number of different positions within the Division of Soil Conservation and has been in her current position as Program Manager since July of 2015.
