AMES, Iowa – Nutrient reduction approaches around the world will be the focus of the Fall 2026 Water Quality Research Seminar series hosted by the Iowa Nutrient Research Center.
The sessions will feature scientists who have been leaders in developing, improving, and tracking the progress of nutrient reduction practices in Latvia, Denmark, New Zealand, and the United States.
The first three sessions in the series will be held virtually on the second Wednesday of each month, September through November, from 3:10-4:00 p.m. The fourth seminar will be a hybrid meeting on Tuesday, December 8th from 3:10-4:00 p.m., with an in-person option in room 1306 Elings Hall, Iowa State University. Register via Zoom to participate in the seminars.
“Some Iowans have heard about nutrient reduction research in the state, but they may not be aware that nutrient reduction research is being conducted around the world,” said INRC Director Matt Helmers. “This seminar series will provide participants the opportunity to learn about nutrient challenges in other parts of the globe and how those challenges are being addressed. We look forward to hearing about how nutrient loss is addressed elsewhere and being able to ask questions of global researchers directly.”
